Invoices, Taxes and Rooms
Three smaller areas: billing a client outside a ticket, setting up tax, and managing bookable rooms.
Invoices
Invoices in the left navigation, gated by the Invoice permission.
An invoice bills a client outside the normal ticket flow: a corporate account, a wedding party, a wholesale order, anything paid later rather than at the chair.
Three settings on Features Configuration → Invoice Settings decide how invoices behave:
- Exclude Invoices from Cash Register — invoice revenue is not attributed to the drawer. Usually right, since invoices are rarely paid over the counter.
- Hide Tips for Invoices — no tip step on invoice payment.
- Keep Invoice Cash in Business — under Stylist Keeps Cash, invoice cash stays in the drawer rather than going to the stylist.
Taxes
Taxes in the left navigation. Define your rates and apply them to services and products.
Tax in Perceny is calculated on the ticket, and it is recalculated whenever the ticket changes — including when a payment is reset with Ignore Previous Payments, which zeroes and rebuilds it so the new charge is correct.
Two things to get right:
- Which items are taxable. Services and products are often taxed differently, and gift cards frequently are not taxed at sale at all.
- The rate itself, including any local addition on top of the state rate.
Tax Collected is available as a trend metric on the reports, which is what you will want at filing time.
Rooms
Rooms in the left navigation, gated by the Room permission.
A room is a bookable resource: a treatment room, a colour bar, a private booth. Assign services to rooms and Perceny stops two services that need the same room being booked at once.
Rooms are worth setting up when a physical constraint, rather than staff availability, is what actually limits your bookings. If you have one colour bar and three colourists, the calendar will happily double-book it until you tell it not to.
If your only constraint is people, rooms add configuration for nothing — skip them.
