Ring Someone Up on Your Phone
Start a ticket, add items, take a tip, charge a card or cash, handle a partial payment, and send or print the receipt — all from the app.
Checkout in the app is the full checkout, not a cut-down one: items, discounts, rewards, gift cards, tips, split payments, partial payments, refunds and receipts.
Starting a ticketCopy a link to this section
Three ways in, and the first is the one to prefer:
- From the appointment. Open it on the Calendar and tap Check Out. The booked services are already on the ticket and the appointment stays attached to it.
- New Sale on the Tickets tab, for a walk-up with no appointment.
- The floating checkout button on Calendar or Earnings.
Open tickets live on the Tickets tab until they are paid: "Tickets you start will appear here until they are checked out." An empty tab means nothing is outstanding — a good thing to glance at before you leave.
Adding what they boughtCopy a link to this section
Add Item opens the offerings picker — services and products, searchable, with stock shown for products. If you have a barcode scanner or use the camera, Scan Barcode adds a product directly: "Point the camera at a product barcode."
If you try to charge an empty ticket: "Add at least one service or product to check out."
Client and reductionsCopy a link to this section
Under Client & reductions:
- Client — attach one, or leave it as No client for a cash walk-in. Attach it if you can; it is what makes the visit show in their history and lets the receipt reach them.
- Discounts & rewards — apply a discount, redeem a loyalty reward, or use a membership benefit. What you are allowed to apply follows your discount rules and permissions, including any per-period discount threshold.
- Gift cards — take one as payment against the ticket.
The tipCopy a link to this section
Tip offers your configured percentage options, No tip, and Custom tip. If you charge with no tip, the app asks once: "Continue with $0 tip? No tip has been added for this payment. You can continue without a tip or go back to add one." Confirm and it stops asking for that payment.
On a card reader the client picks their own tip on the reader instead — that is the point of the reader.
Taking the moneyCopy a link to this section
Payment method offers what your business has enabled: card reader, Tap to Pay, cash, external payment apps, gift card, on account.
Charge {amount} starts it, and the app narrates what is happening so nobody taps twice:
- "Charging the card…"
- "Follow the prompts on the card reader."
- "Payment complete"
If the card is declined you get told the outcome, not a mystery: "The card was declined. No charge was taken — you can try again." There is also a cancel bar while the reader is waiting, so a client who changes their mind does not leave the reader hanging.
Cash opens the change sheet — enter what they handed you and the app does the arithmetic out loud, which is how you avoid giving $10 back instead of $1. See Take a cash payment and give change.
Not set up for cards yet? "Finish the bank account setup on the web app to enable card payments."
Partial payments and splitsCopy a link to this section
Take part of the total and the app keeps the ticket open with the rest owed:
- "Partial payment taken — $X is still owed on this ticket. Charge the rest to finish checkout."
- Remaining balance shows on the ticket.
Charge again with another method to finish. That is how you split a bill across two cards, or card plus cash. See Split a payment across methods.
The receiptCopy a link to this section
After payment: Send Receipt (the app asks "How should the receipt be sent?" — text or email) or Print Receipt if a printer is paired. The print options sheet decides what goes on the paper.
Skip both and the client still gets the Receipt message automatically if that template is on and they have contact details on file.
After the factCopy a link to this section
Open the ticket from the Tickets tab or from Earnings:
- Payments lists every transaction on it: "No payments recorded yet." until there is one.
- Refund — the app confirms: "Refund the full amount of this ticket to the customer?" For a single item rather than the whole ticket, see Refund a ticket or a single item.
- Paid as cash by mistake? Do not delete the ticket. See Paid as cash by mistake.
- Split Ticket separates items onto their own ticket, for when two people want to pay for their own halves.
Deleting a ticket you should not have madeCopy a link to this section
Most staff cannot delete tickets outright, and the app says why: "You cannot delete tickets directly, so this sends a deletion request for a manager to approve." The request lands in the approvals queue. See Approve staff requests.
If checkout is not available to youCopy a link to this section
"You cannot open tickets — ask an owner or manager if you need to check customers out." That is a permission, checked the same way the web dashboard checks it.
