Collaborate From Your Phone

Two stylists, one client, one bill — sending and accepting a collaboration request in the app, and what happens to each ticket.

A colour and a cut by two different people, paid once. The concept and the money side are covered in Run a collaboration between two stylists — this page is how it works with a phone in your hand, which is where it usually happens.

The shape of itCopy a link to this section

Each stylist keeps their own ticket with their own items. The tickets are joined into a group so the client pays once, and each stylist's commission is calculated from their own items. Nobody's work ends up on someone else's ticket.

That is why it is a request: joining someone's bill affects their numbers, so they have to agree.

Sending a requestCopy a link to this section

  1. Open your ticket and tap the collaboration action. Until it is joined it says "Only your ticket so far", with the hint "Split this ticket with another {stylist}".
  2. The sheet explains what you are doing: "Pick {a stylist} to share this ticket with. Their ticket and yours get paid together."
  3. Pick one or more people — the button counts them: Send Request (2).
  4. If they already have a ticket open for this client, you choose which one joins: "Choose which of their tickets joins this one, then send the request."
  5. Send. Your strip now shows "Waiting for their approval".

Receiving oneCopy a link to this section

You will see it on the ticket, and on the tickets strip:

  • "You have been invited to collaborate — tap to respond"
  • or "{name} invited you to collaborate — tap to respond"

Tap it and you get Accept {name} or Decline. While it is pending your side reads "Waiting for your answer"; theirs reads "Waiting for their approval".

Accept and the two tickets are a group. The ticket now shows a Collaboration Total alongside your own total — the number the client pays versus the number that is yours.

Checking out a collaborationCopy a link to this section

Either stylist can take the payment. Charge the Collaboration Total once, on any method, and the group settles. The Group Breakdown on the ticket shows who contributed what, so a client asking "what am I paying for" gets an answer.

Tips follow your business's tip rules for collaborations — set that once and stop re-litigating it at the desk. The same partial-payment and split-payment behaviour applies as on any ticket: see Ring someone up on your phone.

Leaving or cancellingCopy a link to this section

Two different actions, and the confirmations tell you which is which:

  • Leave"Leave this collaboration? Your ticket keeps its items but stops sharing the bill." Your ticket survives with your work on it; you just pay separately.
  • Cancel Collaboration"Cancel this collaboration for everyone on it?" The whole group comes apart.

Leaving is almost always what you want when you joined the wrong ticket. Cancelling is for when the plan changed for the client.

Adding a third personCopy a link to this section

Add {stylist} sends another request into an existing group. There is no limit imposed by the flow — the constraint is practical: every extra person is another approval to wait for while the client stands at the desk.

Doing it before the client is ready to payCopy a link to this section

Send the request while you are still working, not at the desk. A pending request that has not been accepted cannot be checked out, and the worst moment to discover that is with a card already in someone's hand.

When commission looks off afterwardsCopy a link to this section

Check the group breakdown first: an item added to the wrong ticket inside a collaboration looks identical to a commission bug and is fixed by moving the item. Then check whose ticket the payment landed on. Commission looks wrong walks the rest of it.

Requests and approvalsCopy a link to this section

Depending on your settings, a collaboration may also generate an entry in the approvals queue for a manager. If your request sits at "Sent for approval" rather than reaching the other stylist, that is what happened — see Approve staff requests.
