Customize What Each Role Can Do

Editing permissions for a whole role, granting an exception to one person, and the categories worth locking down first.

Intermediate6 minWeb dashboard

Editing a role

  1. Open Business Settings → Features Configuration.
  2. Go to the tab that owns the area — Ticket, Appointment, Payment, Kiosk, Client, Member, Product, Room, Dispute, Invoice, Summary.
  3. The permissions block sits at the top, with a tab per role: Stylist, Cashier, Owner, Manager.
  4. Switch to the role and flip the permission.

It saves immediately, and it applies to everyone holding that role — now and in future.

If you are not sure which tab a permission lives on, type the permission's name into the page's search box. The permissions block is matched by the names of the permissions inside it, so searching refund surfaces the block that can grant it.

Granting an exception to one person

The member editor has a Permissions tab (visible to people who themselves have Features Configuration access). Grant or deny there, and it beats the role for that person only.

Where to start

If you are hardening an established shop, these are the categories that matter most, roughly in order:

Payment. Who can refund, who can change a payment, who can see payouts. This is where money leaves.

Ticket. Who can edit prices, apply discounts, and check out other people's tickets. Price editing plus personalised services is a lot of trust.

Summary. Who can see earnings. There is a difference between seeing your own numbers and seeing everyone's, and Perceny distinguishes them — including a separate permission for today's takings specifically.

Client. Who can see clients that belong to other stylists (which also has its own switch, Allow Sharing Clients), and who can merge or delete them. A bad merge is hard to unpick.

Dispute. Keep this very narrow. There is one chance to respond to a chargeback.

Member. Who can edit other people's memberships, hours and pay.

The one to be careful with

Features Configuration itself is a permission. Anyone who has it can change every setting in this article, including who has this permission. Owners and, at most, one trusted manager.

Native and web stay in step

The Perceny app gates the same surfaces on the same permissions as the web dashboard, at the same strictness. That is enforced by a test in the codebase rather than by habit, so a permission you set here behaves identically on a phone.

After you change something

Ask the person to reopen the screen. Permission changes propagate live, but a screen already open may be showing what it loaded a minute ago.

If they still cannot see it, work through Someone cannot see a page.
