Edit a Stylist and Their Preferences

The member editor and the Preferences screen: what each contains, who can open them, and how to find one field among hundreds.

Beginner6 minWeb & app

There are two editors for a person, and they are not the same.

The member editor (managers)

Opened from a member's row, this is the manager's view. It has tabs:

  • General Info — everything about the person: name, display name, title, role, manager, colour, whether they are public on booking and the kiosk, their profile links, their business model and money holder, commission behaviour, keep-cash behaviour, notification defaults, and their validity window (effective and expiration dates).
  • Hours Available — their weekly schedule.
  • Hours Exceptions — one-off changes.
  • Permissions — individual grants and denials, if you have Features Configuration access.
  • Google Calendar — connect their calendar.

There is also a Reset password action, and, for Perceny staff, an Open in Admin button.

The editor is long. Use the search box at the top: type keep cash, hide from shift or expiration and everything else gets out of the way. Searching flattens the tabs, so you do not need to know which one the field is on.

The same editor exists in the Perceny app, with the same fields and its own search box.

Preferences (the person themselves)

Also called Work Settings. This is what a member sees about themselves, and it is deliberately smaller: it shows only the preferences you allowed under Features Configuration → Member Management Settings.

Its tabs are Hours Available, Hours Exceptions, General Info, My Alerts, Business Rules, Advanced Business Settings, and Google Calendar. It has a search box too, and searching flattens the tabs the same way.

Managers can open anyone's Preferences and switch between people with the stylist picker at the top.

Three-state overrides

Most preferences are a three-way choice, not a switch:

  • Default to Business Settings — inherit.
  • Yes — override on.
  • No — override off.

That third state is real. "No" is not the same as "Default" when the business setting is currently off, because they diverge the moment you change the business setting. See Business settings vs. personal preferences.

Saving

Preferences saves only the fields you touched, so untouched values keep inheriting. Depending on your setup, some changes — schedule changes in particular — become a request for a manager to approve rather than applying immediately. Perceny says which happened.

The photo

Uploading a member photo saves immediately, on its own, rather than waiting for the form. That is deliberate: backing out of the form should not lose the photo you just picked.

Common jobs

Change someone's commission. Not here — that is Percentage in the left navigation.

Stop them appearing on the booking page. Their General Info, "public on booking website".

Stop them getting walk-in notifications. Their My Alerts tab, or search walk-in from the top.

Someone has left. Disable the membership rather than deleting it, so their history and commission survive. An expiration date does the same thing on a schedule.
