Create and Complete a Ticket
The core loop: start a ticket, add services and products, take payment, and close it out.
A ticket is the record of one visit: who served whom, what was sold, what was paid, and who earned what. Everything downstream — commission, the register, reports — is built from tickets.
Start one
From the app or the dashboard, create a ticket. You can start from three places:
- A booked appointment — the ticket is created for you when the client arrives, already carrying the services and the client.
- A walk-in — resolving a waitlist entry as served creates the ticket.
- From scratch — for anyone who arrived without either.
Add the client
Select the client, or create one on the spot. If Require Client Details in Ticket is on, you cannot complete the ticket without one.
Attaching the client is worth doing even when it is optional: it is what builds visit history, drives rewards and memberships, and lets you follow up.
Add what you sold
Add services and products. Depending on your settings you may also be able to:
- Add several services to one ticket (Allow selection of multiple services).
- Set a quantity on a line (Allow Quantity for Ticket Items).
- Add a personalised service with a custom name and price (Allow Personalized Services).
Prices come from the menu, including any per-stylist override. Whether you can change a price on the ticket is a permission.
Add a collaborator, if someone helped
If a second person worked on this client, add them as a collaborator rather than creating a second ticket. See Run a collaboration between two stylists.
Check out
Open checkout. You will step through:
- Items — a last look at what is on the ticket.
- Tip — if tips are enabled for this ticket type.
- Payment — the method, or several.
Cash checkout can open a change calculator (Enable Cash Change Checkout). Card checkout hands off to the reader. You can split one ticket across several methods — see Split a payment across methods.
Close it
Once the balance is cleared the ticket is finished. Depending on your settings:
- A receipt may print automatically (Print Receipt After Checkout).
- A thank-you message may go to the client, held back by the thank-you delay so it does not arrive mid-visit.
- The appointment's slot may stay blocked on the calendar (Keep Time Blocked After Checkout).
If you change the ticket afterwards
Editing a ticket after checkout is allowed. With Add Transaction After Ticket Update on, Perceny records the difference automatically — a charge if the total went up, a refund if it went down. With it off, you reconcile by hand.
You cannot lower a ticket's price below what has already been paid toward it; Perceny will tell you so. To change a payment rather than a price, see Fix a payment taken as cash by mistake.
Tickets left open
Open tickets are how a day's numbers go missing. Two settings help:
- Max Tickets Per Stylist — a cap on how many one person can have open at once.
- Send Finish Pending Tickets Reminders — a push notification to close them.
And for appointments and walk-ins, auto-finish will close the ticket for you after the visit ends. See the Appointment and Kiosk settings references.
